This is a special and sad presidents report – as in May, Paul Caffyn will celebrate his 200th and final edition as being editor of the KASK magazine. A truly momentous achievement and at the same time a cause for reflection for all that the magazine has achieved, but more importantly what Paul has done for sea kayaking in New Zealand and around the world – thank you Paul.
With warm and wonderful weather, 2019 has already offered paddlers a variety of extreme conditions on which to hone their skills whether it be in surf, touring or rock gardening Kayak Fest 2020
As 2018 comes to a close, KASK would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support throughout the year and wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.
Hi everyone,
Spring may officially be here, but I couldn’t resist the urge to escape to the warmth and pristine waters of Samoa to provide paddler safety for the Samoa Events Five Islands Ocean Swim Series – an event for experienced ocean swimmers. It was great way to see Samoa, its coastal areas and find out the best areas for ‘rock gardening’, caving and surfing!
Hi everyone,
With Spring officially only a month away, it is already great to be getting those extra minutes of daylight in the early evening. Surfing in the twilight is about as good as it gets!
Unless you are Tara Mulvany who has just completed her paddle along the west Coast of Greenland with Bevan and Nora Walker, John Gumbley and Diana Galbraith currently paddling in E Greenland!

This is a special and sad presidents report – as it the final update I do as the KASK president. After 3 years as president, I will be stepping down on 4 Mar 2018. It has been highly rewarding three years and I met or talked to most of our members and got to know some amazing paddlers from all over New Zealand!
